The Ohio State Buckeyes 2014 Big Ten Conference football season was the 119th season of college football play for the Big Ten Conference and was a part of the 2014 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The conference began its season on Thursday, August 28, as Minnesota and Rutgers opened their seasons. The remainder of the teams in the conference began their season on August 30.

This was the Big Ten’s first season with 14 teams as Maryland and Rutgers joined the conference. It was also the first season with the two seven-team divisions; when Maryland and Rutgers joined, the conference reorganized its divisions on a pure geographic basis. The six schools in the Central Time Zone were joined by Purdue in the new West Division, with the other schools making up the East Division. Under the new setup, the only protected cross-division rivalry game will be Indiana–Purdue.

Ohio State routed Wisconsin, 59–0, to win 2014 Big Ten Football Championship Game in Indianapolis. The Buckeyes then advanced to the first ever College Football Playoff where they defeated Alabama in the Sugar Bowl semifinal game and then defeated Oregon in the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship to claim their eighth national championship in school history. The OSU Ohio State Buckeyes 2002 football team was the national champion of the 2002 NCAA Division I-A football season. The team was the first in Division I-A (now Division I FBS) history to finish its season at 14–0, and the second to win 14 games, following BYU’s 14–1 season in 1996. The Ohio State Buckeyes 2010 football team represented The Ohio State University in the 2010 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Buckeyes were in the charge of Jim Tressel and played their home games in Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. They were members of the Big Ten Conference.

Ohio State vacated all 12 wins from 2010, including the Sugar Bowl, due to ineligible players.
The Buckeyes finished the season officially 0-1 with the only game not vacated being a loss to Wisconsin.

If their wins had not been vacated they would have finished 12–1 and 7–1 in Big Ten play. The Buckeyes played in a BCS game for the sixth consecutive year. They were invited to the Sugar Bowl where they defeated Arkansas, 31–26. It would have been the school’s first win in a bowl game against a team from the Southeastern Conference, having lost its previous nine such contests. On July 8, 2011, in the wake of NCAA violations for improper benefits to student athletes and the subsequent cover, Ohio State vacated all of its victories, as well as the conference and Sugar Bowl championships, from the 2010 season as self-imposed sanctions.
