The 1966 American Football League season was the seventh regular season of the American Football League. The league entered talks with the National Football League regarding an NFL-AFL merger, which took effect fully in 1970.

The season also saw the debut of the Miami Dolphins. This gave the AFL 9 teams (an odd number). A sixth official, the Line Judge, is added to the officiating crew.

The season ended when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills in the AFL Championship game. And the National Football League’s Green Bay Packers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in the first ever AFL-NFL World Championship Game.

The AFL had 9 teams, grouped into two divisions (the new Miami team was in the Eastern Division, which now had 5 teams), and still played a 14-game schedule. The 1963 American Football League season was the fourth regular season of the American Football League (AFL).

The season ended when the San Diego Chargers defeated the Boston Patriots in the AFL championship game,to this date the only major league championship won by the Chargers and the city of San Diego.

The original eight franchises of 1960 remained, but two underwent name changes, with one relocating. The Titans of New York changed their team colors and renamed the New York Jets; the defending AFL champion Dallas Texans moved north to Missouri and became the Kansas City Chiefs.

As with the previous three seasons, the AFL had 8 teams, split into two divisions. Every team played two games against the others for a total of 14 games, and the division winners met in the AFL championship game. If there was tie in the standings, a playoff was held to determine the division winner. The Oakland Raiders 1967 American Football League season was the eighth regular season of the American Football League.

The season ended when the Oakland Raiders (13–1) hosted the Houston Oilers (9–4–1) in the AFL championship game on December 31. The Raiders won 40–7 and then met the NFL’s Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II two weeks later, won by Green Bay, 33–14.

The AFL’s nine teams, grouped into two divisions (5 teams in the Eastern Division), faced each other at least once, and each team would play six others twice. Though the New York Jets and the Houston Oilers were both in the Eastern Division, they met only once that season, on October 15. The best team in the Eastern Division would play against the best in the Western Division in a championship game.
